What a year this has already been. Just over two weeks into 2021 Christian Virtual School is excited to announce the launch of not just one, but two courses! If you didn’t already see earlier this week, MPM2D is available and ready for registrations. Today, we’re thrilled to give the spotlight to Integrated Arts.

There were several hands involved in the writing and developing of the course but we want to give a huge shout out to Elyse Gosselin, who not only poured her heart into writing this course but will also be teaching it with us! Those of you already in her Grade 9 English class can attest to her attention to detail, care for the subject, and passion for teaching.

Course Outline

This course integrates two or more of the arts (dance, drama, media arts, music, and visual arts), giving students the opportunity to produce and present integrated art works created individually or collaboratively. Students will demonstrate innovation as they learn and apply concepts, styles, and conventions unique to the various arts and acquire skills that are transferable beyond the classroom. Students will use the creative process and responsible practices to explore solutions to integrated arts challenges.

Throughout the course, students will explore the overall theme that God is the ultimate Artist, and that our creativity comes from Him. Students will have the opportunity to participate in discussions surrounding such topics as the Impact of Art on the Environment, Canadian Identity, and Dance as Worship. Students will be asked to complete a variety of activities to solidify their understanding of the arts. Take a look at an example of one of these assessments:
