Earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)

Christian Virtual School is an inspected private school offering exceptional online Christian education. Our courses follow the Ontario curriculum, are fully online and entirely self-paced. Students who wish to earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) can do so at Christian Virtual School.

In order to earn the OSSD students are required to:

  • Earn 30 credits (18 compulsory and 12 optional)
  • Complete 40 hours of Community Involvement
  • Successfully complete the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT), or in some cases, the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC). For more information on this requirement, visit the Literacy Requirement page.
  • Earn at least two online learning credits

For more detailed information on the OSSD requirements, click here.

Students who have completed prior education outside of Ontario or through homeschooling may be eligible to receive equivalent credits. Students will be required to submit all secondary transcripts to CVS Guidance for an Equivalent Credit Assessment. Students who have completed prior learning outside of Canada will be required to pay a $180 CAD administrative fee.

Teaching parents are asked to reach out to guidance@christianvirtualschool.com for further details and requirements for previously homeschooled students.

Christian Virtual School (CVS) students who attend CVS as their main school of registration, will require an Ontario Student Record (OSR) and an Ontario Education Number (OEN). The OSR is a physical file that holds all education related documents, including report cards and an Ontario Student Transcript. Each student registered in an inspected Ontario school is required to have an Ontario Student Record. The OEN is an identification number that corresponds to each student. CVS students who are earning OSSD credits will receive an OEN if they have not previously been given one by another school. CVS will require a copy of the student’s government issued identification (e.g., passport, birth certificate, etc.) to be kept on file.

In alignment with the Ontario Ministry of Education, Christian Virtual School aims to ensure that students develop the knowledge and skills to be adequately prepared for life beyond secondary school. myBlueprint is a comprehensive career/life planning tool that provides students with the opportunity to plan their pathways, research and investigate occupations, prepare resumés and cover letters, etc. Students have the unique opportunity to map out their secondary school courses and align those choices with post-secondary admission requirements. myBlueprint is a great resource and is available to all eligible CVS students.
