Christian Virtual School is thrilled to participate in the second annual CAMH Sunrise Challenge!

Sunrise, June 2021, Maitland River

The challenge this year will be held from May 30 until June 3, 2022. Each morning that week we will rise together around 5:45 am EST, to watch the sunrise and to raise awareness for mental health.

As we continue to navigate the effects of the global pandemic, CAMH recognizes the need, perhaps now more than ever, for mental health support.

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is an organization that leads the world’s research in mental health, and is the driving force behind the Sunrise Challenge. The idea behind the challenge is to raise awareness about the importance of both physical and mental health. CAMH’s aim is to raise funds through this challenge for those who have been affected by mental illness, for those who have lost their lives or a loved one to suicide, and to those who are currently struggling.

How does someone participate in the Sunrise Challenge?

Easy! Each day during the week of May 30 to June 3, 2022, participants are encouraged to take pictures of the sunrise outside their window, their alarm clock as it’s going off bright and early, or their breakfast they’ve made at the crack of dawn – anything that shows people they’ve completed the challenge that day by waking up early. The challenge also encourages participants to take time that day to do something positive for their mental health – that could be as simple as taking time (if you don’t regularly get up with the sun, you’ll have lots of extra time) to read a book, move their body, or pray!

Join Christian Virtual School again this year as we take on this challenge and share our own beautiful sunrise photos. You can participate by joining our team and/or donating here.
