Building the Entrepreneurial Mindset

In this course, students will learn what makes an entrepreneur thrive and the skills required to succeed in today’s business environment. Students will begin to develop their own entrepreneurial mindset, and learn why it’s important to take initiative, adapt to change, find creative solutions, and understand the financial considerations of entrepreneurship. This hands-on course will use business software and applications to help students plan and develop their entrepreneurial ideas and learn how to present them to a target audience. Throughout the course, students will enhance their communications skills as well as develop and refine their project management skills, including goal setting, time management, and networking.

Teacher(s):

Mark Dietrich graduated from Brock University in 2010. He holds a BBA (Hon) with a concentration in Accounting and a B.Ed., from Lakehead University. After completion of post-secondary, Mark had the amazing opportunity of travelling Australia during school holidays, while supply teaching in Secondary Schools in Melbourne, Victoria. Mark still enjoys travelling when he can and someday hopes to make it to The Grand Canyon (US), Machu Picchu (Peru), and The Colosseum (Italy). During his free time, Mark can be found watching and playing sports such as golf and hockey, hiking, biking, or at the park with his two daughters’. 

Jonathan graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Business, majoring in Accounting. 

In 2013 he pursued a Bachelors of Education at the University of Ottawa. He immediately took an incredible opportunity to go abroad directly after teachers collage and spent 7 years overseas before coming back home to Ottawa, Ontario. 

While abroad, Jonathan lived in China and the middle east teaching and traveling all over the world. Following his experiences outside of Canada, he has since come home and has started a family. 

Aside from teaching, Jonathan’s other interests include playing hockey, exercising, and taking adventures in the beautiful outdoors. 

Jonathan is excited to be working alongside a great team and serving students with Christian Virtual School.
