Our team of teachers grew a lot this school year, and we’re so thankful for each and every one of our super talented educators! We are excited to introduce you to Mrs. Melissa Laukkanen, who is currently teaching our SPH3U: Grade 11 Physics course.

Melissa graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Education and a three-year Bachelor of Science with a double teaching major in Physics and Mathematics in 2001.

Melissa moved from Manitoba immediately after graduation and never left. She started her career teaching at the local district high school in a small town in Northwestern Ontario in fall of 2001. Melissa continues to teach math, science, and physics at the local high school.

Teaching many eLearning and video conference courses has given Melissa valuable teaching experience to help her students at Christian Virtual School.

Melissa is excited about getting her students excited about physics. Physics is the study of the handiwork of God. God’s creation is so intricately designed, and studying physics and mathematics gives us a glimpse of His creation!

In her spare time, Melissa enjoys gardening, camping, fishing, and spending time with her husband and four children.
