My eyes were drawn to what I had written years ago in the bottom margin of my bible at the introduction to 2 Peter:

“I need a spirit of trust and adventure facing life’s risks and opportunities with God directed enthusiasm and faith. To find PEACE I need to:

  1. REMEMBER God has given me work to do
  2. REALIZE that the fruit of the work is a gift from Him
  3. SEE my work as a way to serve God!”

Further to this, I referenced 2 Peter 1:5-8 that reads as follows:

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

To me, God is saying, use this direction as part of a blue print to “walk your daily walk” with Christ.

Not an easy thing for me to do when I was in school. Like the disciple Peter in his youth, I was impulsive, quick tempered and tended to speak without thinking. I was told I was stubborn and griped like an immature little twit (actually had the griping analogy annotated to one of my assignments by a teacher).

To grasp understanding of what the Lord was saying to me took many years, lots of prayer and a submission to the Holy Spirit. Still working on it 😊

I read a prayer that I would like to share with you as you prepare for your summer holidays:

“May you walk with God this summer in whatever you do, wherever you go. Walking with God means walking with honesty and courage and walking with love, respect, and concern for the feelings of others. May you talk to God this summer — every day and in every situation. Talking with God means praying words of praise for the beauty of creation, saying prayers of thanks for friends and good times, asking God’s help in all your decisions, and expressing sorrow when you have failed. May you walk and talk with God every day. Amen.”

Sounds a lot like what is in 2 Peter 1:5-8!

May you continue to grow in right thinking, wisdom, knowledge and grace all the days of your lives.

Have a wonderful, blessed and safe summer!
