Grade 9 Mathematics Preparation

This short, two-week course is designed to help you feel more confident and ready as you begin your first high school math class. Together, we’ll review important concepts from earlier grades, strengthen your problem-solving skills, and build a solid foundation so you can start Grade 9 with confidence.

Math can feel like a big step at the high school level, but this course is here to make the transition smoother. Through clear explanations, practice, and opportunities to check your understanding, you’ll gain both the skills and the confidence you need to succeed. This course is all about practice and mastering skills one-by-one.

In this course, you are going to study a series of skills that are the foundation of Grade 9 math. At the end of each lesson, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding by completing a quiz. You will need to achieve 60% or more on a quiz to move on to the next skill. If you achieve 80% or more on a quiz you will receive a Mastery Badge for that skill. There are 10 to collect in all.

But don’t worry. You can take the quizzes as many times as you want. It will be up to you to put in the effort to review the material, practice, and ask questions so that you can pass the quiz, but you’ll never be stopped from trying again. Don’t forget to use the Practice Arena available at the end of each day to build your confidence. How high of a streak can you get?

This course is also designed to help you get used to the online, asynchronous environment. You will be working independently, but there is support if you have questions. Navigate to the Discussion Board at any time if you have questions.
