Welcome to the fifty ninth edition of the Friends of the School Newsletter. We are hoping that through our monthly newsletter we can connect students, teachers, supporters, and interested students and their families with the ongoings of our school.

CVS Spirit Wear

From cozy hoodies to everyday tees and accessories, there are lots of ways to show your Christian Virtual School spirit wherever you go. Whether you’re a student, parent, alumni, or supporter, it’s a fun way to represent our amazing school community.

What Happened

We were excited to have three recipients of the William L. Kean Bursary this year. The bursary provides students with the opportunity to complete a Christian Virtual School course. Increasing access to exceptional Christian education is at the heart of our school’s mission. Our goal is to ensure students feel supported, particularly those who require financial assistance.

We held our Spring Open House on May 20. During these events, we:

  • gave a history on CVS and how it works,
  • gave a learning platform and classroom tour,
  • heard about what the Guidance Office has to offer,
  • heard about our school offerings and the registration processes, and,
  • facilitated a Q&A

Thank you everyone who participated, we are happy to have been able to answer your questions about online Christian education!

This year marks a huge milestone—six years of Christ-centred, flexible online learning, growing community, and God’s faithfulness every step of the way. From our very first students to the incredible families we serve today, we’re so grateful for the journey and excited for what’s ahead. Read the full anniversary blog on our website to see how far we’ve come.

What’s Happening

At CVS, our vision is a world where everyone can have access to exceptional Christian education and we are taking another step towards that vision. We’re excited to partner with ElevenLabs to help make our learning content more accessible and flexible for all of our students. From supporting different learning styles to helping students engage with material in new ways, it will be an incredible tool for our students learning online. Technology is opening new doors for learning, and we’re grateful for tools that help us better support our students and families around the world. Keep an eye out to see these new elements added into your courses.

What’s About to Happen

At Christian Virtual School we understand the value of experiential learning. As an online inspected private school, we are actively looking at how we can increase these opportunities for our Grade 11/12 students. We are trying to gauge interest on Cooperative Education credits (1 to 2 OSSD credits would be earned). Please help us collect this data by filling out this form, whether you are a current student or prospective family: Co-Op Education Interest Survey.

As we begin approaching the end of our typical school year, our admin team is hard at work preparing Grade 8 Graduation packages for students. Students who complete all requirements for the Eighth Grade will receive a package that includes a Certificate of Completion, Award(s), A congratulatory card, and a composite photo of their class. We want to recognize how hard each and every one of our students are working for their education. Keep an eye on your mailboxes, Grade 8s!
